Pupils develop their mark making techniques using pen and ink (hard black). They create a symbolic portrait utilising a variety of tonal inking effects including hatching, stipple and pattern. They reference Aboriginal art to see how images can involve a narrative and how symbols can help develop this. Enjoy some wonderful self portraits in pen and ink.

hills
A beautiful composition that has been extremely patiently rendered. Fabulous!
mandala
A striking mandala image, beautifully rendered.
stipple hand
A lot of painstaking stippling in this composition!
Hand 2
Another image based around the hand. Nice to see experimentation with the different techniques taught applied here.
veins
A strong composition- using the tendons to demarcate areas of shading and pattern.
snakes
This is a great composition. What is also very effective is the subtle, graduated stipple shading emanating from between the fingers- excellent!
