Thank you to GO Local Food who delivered us a pumpkin weighing in at 10kg. Year 8 pupils began their new Food Technology rotation making a delicious soup using the pumpkin. Pupils also discussed the benefits of using locally grown, seasonal food.
The pumpkin was grown about a mile away so that’s a very short supply chain and helps us think about our commitment to the environment and climate change agenda.
GO Local Food is a community, membership organisation, producing around 10 tonnes of veg each year from fields in Ovington and Matfen. There is lots of space for new members – for more info. – www.golocalfood.org.uk
