Ovingham Middle School’s U12 Girls are into the last 8 of the ESFA National Cup.

Ovingham welcomed Wickersley School and Sports College from Rotherham for the last 16 tie on Thursday. Ovingham started fast and had the majority of possession, creating a lot of early chances but defended brilliantly when needed against some very good Wickersley players. The first half ended 0-0.
OMS started the second half strongly and were rewarded when Lily broke the deadlock with a superb finish, after good work from Lucy and Emily. Five minutes later, Ovingham doubled their lead when a good passing move lead to Amy scoring a great goal. With 10 minutes to go, Wickersley’s star player scored a superb goal to bring them back into the game. However, Ovingham showed great character and scored another goal to end Wickersley’s hopes of a comeback. Great defensive work from Emily and Isla lead to Lillie beating 6 players and getting a well deserved goal. The whole squad were brilliant, but Anna was awarded the ‘girl of the match’ award after an amazing performance.
Ovingham Middle School will travel to Alder Grange School in  Lancashire for the ESFA quarter final!
Good luck!
