World Book Day – Thursday 7th March

As a school, World Book Day is one of the highlights in our school calendar. This year we will be celebrating the annual event on Thursday 7th March and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion.

Here’s what we will be doing in school on Thursday 7th March:

  • Dressing up! Each pupil is invited to dress up as their favourite fictional book character for the day. A suggested donation of £2 will be sent to Book Aid International. Every year they send up to one million brand new books to Africa so that children and young people can discover the joy of reading.  For every £2 donated, they can send a new children’s book to a library or a school in Africa.
  • Bake a Book Competition. Due to popular demand, this competition is returning! Pupils are invited to ‘bake’ a front cover/scene from their favourite book/character out of cake, biscuits, etc with prizes available.
  • Prizes for best dressed characters in each class/year group.
  • Reading themed lessons.
  • Big Book Swap – pupils are invited to bring in any books they don’t read anymore to either swap for another book or even donate to our ever-growing library collection.
  • Mini competitions

Thanks for you support!
