Merry Christmas

The politicians have a lot to say at the moment so:

“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing, but of reflection.” ―Winston Churchill

“Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions, a special day spent in the warm circle of family and friends.” ―Margaret Thatcher

“My Christmas wish is that we all do more to help bring about the kind of society and world we want to live in…Whenever you can show people love, show them you care and enjoy your Christmas.” -Jeremy Corbyn

It seems that, despite the politics we can not avoid in our lives, Christmas has always been a time when even Politicians realise that Christmas day, the spirit and happiness it brings, is not all about them, which makes a change.

Change is a good thing.  Change will inevitable come next year as our year 8 leave us, our year 6’s sit those SATs everyone talks about, we move into a new exciting world of a MAT and we can eventually put our winter coats away again as the summer will hopefully come back as hot as this year.

One thing is for certain though, as sure, as my grandma used to say, ‘as eggs is eggs’, that Ovingham Middle School will continue to work hard, as we have all of this year, to be the best we can be for your children and our community.

Thank you to everyone who donated a present to the Cash for Kids collection, we had a car boot full of gifts to pass on to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Thank you for sharing our successes and tribulations of 2018, some of gewgaw significance, others of  Brobdingnagian proportions, and I look forward to seeing you all on the 8th January to begin the new year together.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your families and friends this Christmas.  I wish you, on behalf of the staff, governors, myself and my family, a very merry Christmas to you all.

Mr A Bennett
