UK Youth Parliament.

Ovingham Middle School has received a certificate from the British Youth Council, recognising our contribution to the UK Youth Parliament’s Make Your Mark consultation. All of our Year 8 pupils filled in ballot papers voting for the issues they think should be discussed and debated in the UK Youth Parliament in 2019.
11-18 year olds nationwide vote on the issues that matter most to them. These are discussed in the House of Commons when the Youth Parliament convenes. They can, in turn, form the basis of important campaigns.
We contributed to the consultation during Local Democracy Week in October. Several county and town councillors visited the school and took part in a Question Time-style panel event with Year 8 forming the audience and asking the questions.
