Kids’ Lit Quiz is a celebration of books and reading, testing children’s knowledge of literature. It was held at Gosforth Central Middle School in Newcastle on 6th November 2017.
Two teams of four OMS pupils competed against over 33 other teams (many of them private schools) from all over the north east. Seven of Year 8’s keenest readers were joined by Year 7 pupil Caitlin to take part in this year’s event.
Our trusty mascot/substitute Dan was enthusiastically cheering the teams on whilst they tackled the hard questioning from Wayne the QUIZMASTER! The esteemed host asked questions from over 100 books that he has read. This year the quiz was even harder than usual due to the fact that there were so many teams.
Our Team B achieved 6th place with 71 points. They even won the Knights-themed round, so they received book prizes . Team A followed close behind overall.
Yarm won the contest and their prize was to go through to the national finals – in London! All of us thoroughly enjoyed the quiz and would greatly recommend it to others.
