Year 5′s visit to Ovingham First School
On Friday 4th March, 21 year 5 pupils visited year 1 at Ovingham First School to celebrate World Book Week. Year 5 had written poems about being under the sea, which they were keen to share with year 1 pupils. Year 5 read their work with great expression and the year one pupils amazed us with their listening skills.
We also taught them some songs about being in the sea and pretended we were in the sea, by using a large sheet of lycra to swim under! The year 1 pupils seemed to really enjoy themselves and it was great to see year 5 working alongside the younger pupils with care and consideration.
Time was also spent creating sea creatures using a range of arts and crafts materials; this was enjoyed by year 1 and year 5 pupils alike!
